Ski Resorts with Short Transfer Times

Posted by: Brandon Fryer 2 years, 11 months ago

If you’re looking to make the most of your upcoming ski holiday, make sure you are booking a ski resort with a short transfer time from the airport. Your time is valuable and there’s skiing to be done, so maximise that time by visiting one of the following ski resorts.

Kitzbühel, Austria: 73 minutes/73km

Kitzbühel is a popular ski resort that has something for everyone – it is great for people of all skiing abilities and the stunning village is traditional with a cosmopolitan centre that has lots going on and plenty of nightlife options. It is located just 73km/1 hour and 13 minutes from Salzburg airport, or 2 minutes slower if you’re travelling from Innsbruck airport.

St Anton am Arlberg, Austria: 75 minutes/96km

Austria’s St Anton am Arlberg is considered one of the world’s top 10 ski resorts, famed for reliable snowfall, stunning slopes, and breath-taking views of the Tyrolean Alps. The fastest way to reach it is travelling from Innsbruck airport, which is located 96km away and a 75-minute drive when travelling by private transfer or hire care. Alternatively, you could travel from the Friedrichshafen or Zurich airports, but the journey from these is much longer at 90 minutes and 2 hours respectively. For more information, check out our full St Anton am Arlberg travel guide.

Les Deux Alpes, France: 90 minutes/109km

Les Deux Alpes is in the southern region of the French Alps, with the highest point at 3600 metres providing a breath-taking panoramic view for visitors. The nearest airport is Grenoble, a 90-minute drive away (109km) via the D1091 road. If you are on a budget and would rather avoid a private car transfer, there are regular buses running from both Grenoble’s airport and train station straight into the ski resort.

Saalbach, Austria: 98 minutes/88km

Saalbach is one of Austria’s premier ski resorts, offering visitors a traditional village with stunning views and great skiing opportunities for all levels. The ski resort is situated just 1 hour 38 minutes (88.3km) from Salzburg Airport via private car transfer or hire car. You could alternatively take a bus or train, but this would make the journey longer.

Cervinia, Italy: 100 minutes/118km

Cervinia is one of Italy’s highest ski resorts at 2050 metres, a popular choice for British skiers due to it having great levels of snow all season long. The fastest way to reach the resort is by flying into Turin airport and travelling 118 km north along the A5 road. This journey takes 1 hour and 40 minutes via private car transfer or hire car. Other nearby airports include Milan International (160km) and Geneva International (190km).

Val d'Isère, France: 120 minutes/144km

Val d’Isère sits alongside the resort of Tignes and forms the Espace Killy region, which covers more than 300km of piste. The nearest airport is Chambéry – 144km away from the ski resort. A private car transfer will get you there in 2 hours via the N90 road. Alternatively, flying into Geneva would be a 2 hour and 45-minute transfer time. If you would rather not fly, you could drive from the UK by taking the Eurotunnel to Calais, before travelling by train to Bourg St Maurice and finally getting a 40-minute taxi ride straight into the resort.
