It offers brilliant snow security given that the resort height is 2050m and the majority of the slopes on the Italian side are either south or south-west facing. This means that the slopes are bathed in sunshine on a blue bird day but the snow conditions often hold hold out until the end of April on account of their altitude. The slopes on the Zermatt side run lower down but most of the them are north facing which helps them to hold their snow as well.
