Location:
Sitting at the foot of the Penken and Ahorn mountains with 57 lifts, 136km of skiing and Austria’s steepest run, Harakiri, Mayrhofen is one of the most diverse Alpine resorts. All slopes are reached by gondola, so beginners will need a full lift pass from day one, although the ski schools are great and the range of easier runs make for fast progression. Mayrhofen has a wide variety of more challenging runs and, in the right conditions, some impressive off-piste. If you manage to defeat the 38 degree gradient of Harakiri, you get to wear the "I survived Harakiri" t-shirt, and get your 5 minutes' of fame at a free photo shoot every Friday. The Penken Park is also one of the leading freestyle parks in Europe, made up of eight areas. But don't worry, even if you're a beginner you can practice your skills in the Kids Park section.
