Chalet Hotel Mariandre in Alpe d’Huez
The Mariandre continues to attract repeat visits from families year after year mainly due to the excellent location of the hotel within this renowned family-friendly resort combined with the warmth of hospitality and unmatched service provided by our staff.
Families love Alpe d’Huez itself, its wonderful ski area, and the comfort and superb convenience of the Mariandre itself.
Traditionally styled and furnished, it is warm and inviting, and ideally placed for skiing families, with easy slope access, convenient child care, a choice of family bedrooms and suites, and of course our full Chalet Hotel meals and service.
‘Location, location, location!’
The Mariandre is ideally situated for families, being close to the resort’s main centre of shops, restaurants and cafés, yet pleasingly away from the livelier après-ski bars and nightlife. The ‘Palais du Sport’ is within a short walk, with its indoor and outdoor swimming-pools, and the night-time toboggan-run on the Eclose slope is also close by. For your ultimate convenience, our partner ski-hire shop is literally right next to your own front door (see main photo above)!
Ski Area Access
Staying just above the ski-hire shop and a mere 50m from the nearest piste and ski-lift is every skier’s dream, and makes the Mariandre a perfect choice for skiers who just hate to walk! The Telecentre lift, known locally as the ‘Yoghurt Pot’, links the centre of the resort up to the Rond Point des Pistes, from where the whole area opens up, with a choice of five different lifts to whisk you on up the mountain. Alternatively, you can start your day on the piste just 50m from home, and ski down from there to the Eclose lifts to take you up into the main heart of the area. At the end of the day, you can ski back on piste to the same point, and in normal conditions just carry on the last 50m across the Tourist Board’s terrace to the Mariandre.

Meals in Chalet Hotel Mariandre, Alpe d'Huez
Fine Cuisine at Chalet Hotel Mariandre
Includes a skiers' buffet breakfast to start your day, afternoon tea to welcome you 'home', and 3 course evening meals with wine and coffee to complete the evening six days a week.
For six days of the week in the staff prepare all your meals for you as described. The majority of parents feel that young children can inhibit the dinner-party atmosphere at evening meals, especially if they are over-tired, so children under 13 years are served High Tea at around 5.30pm. They are not then permitted to join adult dinner, as they are generally happier either getting some rest ready for tomorrow’s adventures, or if 6 years old or more, joining our child care staff in Cocoa Club.
On their one day off per week, a full buffet breakfast will still be served to you as normal. That evening, you and your family then have the chance to eat out in one of the local cafés or restaurants, which your Rep will be happy to help you arrange.
Breakfast
A good breakfast is essential on a ski holiday, so we provide both a cooked breakfast including your choice of bacon, eggs, sausages and beans, as well as a continental selection with a choice of cereals or porridge, fruit juices, plentiful tea, coffee and bread (and croissants in France), cold meats, cheese and preserves, which is normally presented buffet-style for you to help yourself.
Piste Picnics
Our Chalet Hotel teams can also prepare a packed lunch for you on request, at a small local charge. For those keen to keep their Eurospending to an absolute minimum, this is the ideal way to keep your costs down!
Afternoon Tea
The traditional ‘welcome home’ after a day on the slopes will be laid out for you, ready for your return, every day except the team’s one day off each week. A good cup of tea or coffee is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious slice of freshly home-baked cake – featuring a selection of cakes for you to choose from.
Children’s High Tea
High Tea provides children under 13 with a healthy menu, but tailored more towards children’s tastes than our main adult dinner, and puréed food is also always available for infants on request. Parents are asked to accompany their children under 36 months at High Tea please, whilst children from 3-12 years will be supervised by staff.
Adult Dinner
Dinners for adults (and children 13 and over only) start with an apéritif, followed by an appetiser, main course and dessert or cheese board to top it all off. The meal is accompanied by a choice of wines, unlimited during the meal service, with freshly chilled water also always available, and followed by complimentary coffee or tea with to round off your evening.
These ‘Culinary Choice’ adult dinners six nights per week, comprising five courses, with a choice of menu for your enjoyment. Adults (and children 13 and over only) will be asked to choose their evening meals at breakfast for that evening, from a choice of two or three varied dishes, changing each day, always including a vegetarian option for each course.
Special Diets
Vegetarian options are always on our ‘Culinary Choice’ menu in our Chalet Hotels, and are available in our chalets if you advise us in advance. Other special diets can generally be catered for at a cost of £35 per person per week. Any dietary requirements must be advised to us at the time of booking in order for us to be fully prepared.
