Chalet Woodpecker, which sits alongside its sister Chalet Nightingale' is a beautifully decorated chalet, in a superb location in Alpe d'Huez. The chalet sits on Avenue de l'Eclose, which is located at the most southernmost part of the main village, just off the main route into the centre of town. The town centre is only a 5 minute walk from the busy centre of Alpe d'Huez. From the chalet the easiest access for all levels to the piste is either via the lift Alpe Express or via the Telecentre Cabine - both just a few minutes' walk from the chalet, this is the easiest, quickest way to access both the piste at Bergers and Grands Rousse. You can ski back down to just beside the Alpe Express, under the Telecentre Cabine although it can be narrow in places and dependant on snow conditions.
The Chalet
This spacious 7 bedroom chalet is set across three floors and has room for up to 15 guests, and inside is attractively decorated, with light-wood panelling and pastoral furnishings which give this chalet a relaxing yet stylish feel.
Entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor, where you'll find a ski storage space complete with heated boot driers. There are also four twin bedrooms (90cm x 200cm) on this floor, each with en-suite shower rooms and WC. The remaining three bedrooms, of which there are two twin and one triple (90 x 200 cm) are located on the first floor, again each with an en-suite shower room and WC. Two of the rooms on the first floor share a spacious balcony, with great views of the surrounding mountains. The bedrooms are spacious and continue the attractive wood pannelled furnishings present in the rest of the chalet, which look traditionally Alpine whilst giving this chalet a fresh, clean and airy feel that makes it so relaxing.
On the first floor you'll find the open plan living and dining space, next to which there are sliding doors that wrap around the corner of the building and open up onto a spacious balcony. With windows facing out of both sides of the building, you can sit back and enjoy incredible views from the table as you tuck into breakfast or dinner, or if the weather is kind to you, enjoy a cold après-ski beer on the balcony as you soak up the last of the sun's rays. The kitchen sits close the dining room, and comes fully equipped with an oven, four-ring hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine and coffee percolator, so you'll have everything required to rustle up a stunning meal for your friends and family.
On the lower ground floor you'll find a wonderful relaxation space, shared with the neighbouring Chalet Nightingale, complete with indoor hot tub and sauna, providing the perfect space to relax those aching muscles after a challenging day on the ski slopes.
If you're planning to drive, then there are four parking spaces located in front of the chalet, shared between Woodpecker and Nightingale. Please speak to our team to confirm how many spaces are available for your trip. There is free WIFI throughout, so whether you want to spend a relaxing evening streaming your favourite series, or you need to do some work whilst you're away, you'll be well covered in this lovely chalet.

Meals in Chalet Woodpecker, Alpe d'Huez
presenting the next generation of chalet holidays, for a contactless world. Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see us. We'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact, unless you need it. You and your family will be safe and looked-after, as we work in the background, providing everything you need.
Our contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and our à la carte option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.
For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, we are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, afternoon tea, a three course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, plus unlimited wine and some beers. We have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.
Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where our à la carte contactless catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, we will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week and we will give you the opportunity to order the food and drink of your choice, at the local hypermarket rates, and bill you for this afterwards. Four days before arrival, you will receive a comprehensive provisions list with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals, or the ingredients you'll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, champagne, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance.
Our aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, we are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.
*Please note that for the à la carte option, all food, drink, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. Provisions will be billed at cost price and can be ordered from the list that will be sent out to you, and ski hire and lift passes can be booked in advance with our preferential rates. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.
