Just above Meribel's centre, the views from Chalet Ophelia's balconies are fantastic; over the town and onto the mountains beyond. The chalet is actually two chalets joined by an internal corridor. This means that there are two separate lounge areas each with roaring fires and comfy sofas, perfect for chilling after a day on the mountain, glass of wine in hand or pulling out a game of mousetrap.
Chalet Ophelia sits just above the village centre giving the chalet fantastic views across the valley. To get to the slopes you can walk to the tourist office where an escalator will take you up to the piste (you can ski down to the main lift area from here), it's a 600m walk taking around 7 minutes. Alternatively, you can hop on the resort shuttle that stops at the end of the road (it's free with your lift pass).
To get back to the chalet you can walk from the tourist office but we'd recommend getting the resort shuttle from the main lift area (bus stops are just behind the station). Or, if you like a bit of après you can catch the bus to the chalet from the Rond Point, which is pretty awesome.
The town centre is around the same area as the tourist office so again a 6-7 minute walk. It's a nice walk once you take the ski boots off.
The exposed stone and carved wooden balconies are immediately striking and this traditional exterior is carried into the chalet itself with wooden beams spanning the ceiling of the main lounge area separated from the dining room by a stunning log burning fireplace. Most bedrooms have access to the balconies to enjoy the views and there are 9 twin rooms, 3 doubles and a triple so the chalet sleeps a maximum of 26.
All interiors have been updated ready for the 2018-19 winter season with soft light grey couches in the main living room with touches of faux fur and dark grey woolly curtains. This theme runs through the rooms as well bringing some modern touches to a traditional chalet. But the best bit of all is the two bubbling hot tubs on the front terrace. A traditional chalet in a fabulous resort with outdoor hot tubs to come back to each afternoon. Tick, tick and tic
