Skiing in the Ski Jewel
The ski Jewel was created in 2012 by linking the Alpbach Valley to the Wildschonau. There are 145km of slopes including 32km of blue runs, 78km of red runs and 18km of black runs, perfect for beginners and intermediates. The ski Jewel also has 3 snow parks, one in Alpbach, Schatzberg, Niederau and a 90m half-pipe.
Beginner skiing
The Resorts of Niederau, Oberau and Alpbach are great for beginners. Alpbach has 3 separate nursery slopes in the resort, as well as some other nursery pistes at the top of the gondola. Niederau, and Oberau also have beginner slopes in the resort.
Intermediate Skiing
The Ski Jewel is an intermediates paradise with its 78km of red runs. Popular routes in Niederau and Oberau are the slopes from the Markbachjoch gondola or from the Lanerkopfl chairlift. Alpbach has some outstanding long reds that run all the way from the top of the mountain, through the trees all the way down to the village.
Advanced skiing
One of the most popular slopes in Alpbach is the Gmahkopf that runs from the top of the gondola to the Inneralbach. Besides the black runs in Niederau and Oberau there are a few mogul fields and for the more adventurous some good off-piste routes.
Freestyle and Snowboarding in the Ski Jewel
Most of the slopes are wide and open perfect for snowboarders. In the whole area there are 3 snowparks and a half-pipe. The Race n Boarder Arena in Niederau that has a permanent racetrack, which offer professional training during the winter season.
