This pretty little snow sure Austrian village is the highest ski area around Innsbruck, and is very popular with many of the locals. There is some fantastic ski in ski out accommodation as well as some of the best off-piste runs in Austria.

Axamer Lizum Ski Resort

Axamer Lizum is gradually been linked up with the Gotzens / Mutters ski region, which creates a much larger ski area with a more diverse terrain. It was also hosted the alpine skiing events of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games. Although not the biggest ski area if conditions are right it has some of the best off piste in the Austrian Alps.
