It is a small resort but there is some great off-piste and is the highest resort around Innsbruck. It also hosted events in the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games . With both rustic ski huts and modern mountain restaurants there really is something for everyone.
Beginner Skiing in Axamer Lizum ***
There is a small nursery area in Axams, complete with draglifts, however most beginner or first time skiers will head up to Axamer Lizum where the ski schools meet on nice wide sunny slopes.
Intermediate Skiing in Axamer Lizum ****
This ski resort will suite intermediates with 40km (25miles) of mainly intermediate runs. Popular routes include the Gotzens and Axams through the trees. If you purchase the “Glacier Lift Pass” this will cover 8 resorts around Innsbruck including the Stubai glacier where it is possible to ski all year round so snow is guaranteed.
Advanced Skiing in Axamer Lizum ***
The men’s Olympic slalom run, is a black piste from Birgitzkopl and a must for any serious skier.
Snowboarding in Axamer Lizum ****
Snowboarders have some of the best off-piste in the Austrian Alps to explore, from the top of the Hoadl peak. There is also a large snow park to practice your freestyle ticks on.
