Oberau is part of the massive Ski Juwel ski area with 145km (90 miles) of slopes, linked to the other great resorts such as Niederau and Alpbach, serviced by 47 lifts and is famed for its empty slopes.
Oberau is a quite yet picturesque resort located only a few miles from noisier Niederau, which can be reached by a regular free bus service. The delightful village of Oberau itself has a colorful church and has an idyllic rural charm, but at the same time offering access to a large ski area. This resort is always popular with families during peak dates and has nursery slopes in the heart of the village, so please book early.

Oberau is a picturesque village that is located at the edge of the Kitzbuheler Alps within the Wildschonau Valley. It is one of the resorts that make up the Ski Juwel ski area, there are 145km of pistes and it is linked to Niederau and Alpbach.
Oberau is an excellent place for first time and learner skiers, as the nursery slopes are located directly in the center of the village.
The best place for intermediate skiers is in Niederau; there are many great runs from the Markbachjoch gondola or the Lanerkopfl chairlift. In Alpbach there are also many blue and red routes on offer.
There are 4 challenging black slopes and a few mogul fields within the ski area. There are also some good off-piste routes for the more adventurous.
In the Ski Juwel most of the slopes are wide-open blue and red runs, perfect for both beginner and intermediates. There are also 3 snowparks to play on.
Oberau is a small and quite village however there are a few bars and restaurants to choose from. Niederau is much livelier and is located only a few miles away and is serviced by a regular free bus.
In Oberau why not try Riedlhof, which is up at the top of the Riedl slope and also has great food and offers fantastic views of Wildschonau valley. In the town of Oberau why not try the Tadl Apres Ski Bar and the Sno’ Blau Pub.
