Although the 30km ski area is not massive we find our guest like it that way.
Learner skiers can take the gondola up to 1800m, which is fairly snow sure. Up at the top of the gondola there is a great mountain restaurant that has some stunning views and good food. The beginner slopes run from the top of gondola down to the gondola station base; the slopes here are long and gentle, plenty of time to practice on.
Intermediate skiers can go all the way up to Rauris summit at 2200m on the new lift and take the nice blues all the way down. Advanced skiing is limited in Rauris try the 3.3km black form Heimalm down to the lower gondola station.
There are some great wide and gentle slopes to practice boarding on. There is also the “Nugget Park” full of kickers and rails to practice on. There are some nice off piste routes also.
One of the best features of Rauris is it can be as lively you want it to be, or as intimate as you like. Popular bars include The Shake’s Beer or the Grimming Cellar Bar.
Twice a week in the evening there is floodlit tobogganing from the top of the Kreuzboden. For the 2km run a ski pass is not required and toboggans can be hired locally.
There are romantic sleigh rides, ice-skating, bowling and curling. There are also two distilleries that are worth a visit; a 660-year-old schnapps distillery and the traditional Weixen Beer Brewery nearby.
