It's location, around 200km north of the Arktic Circle means this resort offers snow sure skiing all season long. The village is surrounded by pine forest and wilderness and a place you can feel a real connection with nature. It borders the spectacular Urho Kekkonen National Park which is one of the largest peices of protected national parks in Finland.

Santa's Log Cabin is hidden away deep in the Saariselka pine forest, we will lead your family by snowmobile or reindeer sleigh direct to Santa's door where you will be greated by Santa's Elves. Watch out they can be cheeky and mischievous by nature who enjoy throwing snowballs, rolling in the snow and tickling the younger ones. We will show you into Santa's cabin where you will be greated by Santa himself and welcomed into his enchanted world. If the children have written to Santa then he will have their very own letter in his hand and a knee for them to talk through all there many Christmas wishes. After this when its time to wave goodbye to Santa, they will be given a very unique lapland present that his eleves were busy making the day before. Snowmobile or Reindeer willl return you back to the village for more activities in the snow.
Saariselka is one of the leading cross-country ski destinations and offers exceptional terrain right from your doorstep at our featured properties. The area is made up of unique tracks which wind through dense forests and traverse peaks, transforming the area into a first class cross country ski destination in winter. The area offers 200km of accessable terrain of which 34km have lighting and are all very well maintained.
Whilst skiing through the winter wonderland you get a sense of the untouched Arktic wilderness around you and a feeling of being part of the nature.

Experience downhill skiing and snowboarding in Saariselka, Europe's most northern ski area. Spread across two fells, this resort offers 5 lifts and 15 slopes of a varying difficulty to cater for all abilities. The resort also includes a freestyle park for the more adventurous.
Whilst not the most challenging ski area in europe, Saariselka it is perfect for the beginner and intermediate skiers but advanced skiers will love the off piste potential that this resort has to offer.
Saariselka Ski area is located around 1km from the village centre which is where all the accommodation is located. However do not let this put you of as getting to the slopes is very easy with a ski bus transfer, which runs very frequently and drops you directly on the slopes and only takes 5 minutes from your hotel door.
The best time to visit Saariselka would be from Novemeber to May where you are guaranteed snow conditions and even the possibility of experiencing the Northern Lights.

Whilst Saariselka does not offer your traditional apres ski, it more than makes up for it with the ubundance of activities available after a day on the slopes.
Snowmobiling, reindeer and husky safaris are a fantastic way to take in the surroundings. Why not try something out of the ordinary and give ice fishing a go, or follow one of the numerous snowshoe or cross country routes available. Just a short sleigh or husky ride away is Kakslauttanen, the true home of Santa. November to April is the time to catch the spectacular Northern Lights where you experience the bright dancing lights or the Aurora.
There is a local spa which is perfect for soothing the muscles after a day on the slopes and an opertunity for the kids to be taken care of at the Angry Birds activity park.
If you are looking for a little slice of European Apres then the Laaihovi usually offers a party between 2pm and 5pm. They offer local bands to play live music and you might even get the chance to try ski shoe dancing. Also to consider is the Husky bar and the Lutto pub for a drink after a day on the slopes.
