Les Deux Alpes is one of Europe’s most snow-sure resorts. It is located in the Dauphine region of the Southern Alps and is France’s second oldest ski resort behind Chamonix. The Village lies at 1650m with the highest lift at a mighty 3600m - one of the highest in France - offering fantastic panoramic views, giving way to approximately 220km of pistes with the largest skiable glacier in Europe. With all of this on offer, it is easy to understand why it is very popular for late-season skiing in March and April.
We have a wide selection of ski accommodation including ski chalets, ski hotels, affordable ski apartments and the All Inclusive Club Med Hotel Resort. Holidaymakers to Les Deux Alpes usually fly into Grenoble, the nearest airport, and it’s only a short 90-minute transfer. It is also worth noting that you can fly from most regional airports.
Europe’s largest skiable glacier, the Mont-de-Lans glacier, enables all year round skiing holidays and is one of the most popular summer ski resorts in the world. There is a funicular railway under the glacier transporting skiers and snowboarders to 3450m, allowing a 12km long piste back to your accommodation. It’s a must-do when on any skiing holiday in Les Deux Alpes.
Built-in 1946, the large village of Les Deux Alpes is on a flat plateau surrounded by steep rock faces, the perfect destination for any chalet holiday. The ski resort is filled with ski chalets and apartments, many of which are well priced compared to other French ski resorts, even on peak dates like half term and Easter.
Ski holidays in Les Deux Alpes are very popular for group and family skiing holidays. Most of the slopes are south facing & enjoy a large amount of sunshine over a diverse range of different pistes, perfect for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities.
Les Deux Alpes is known for its friendly atmosphere due to a lively and varied après ski scene, including the legendary Pano bar. The ski resort is full of interesting shops, inviting bars, restaurants, and clubs. You can also enjoy free use of a heated outdoor pool and an ice rink with the purchase of a 6-day lift pass. The brilliant après ski in Les Deux Alpes rivals other famous ski resorts like Meribel, Val d’Isere, and Val Thorens and is considered to be one of the world’s best après ski resorts.
Resorts near Les Deux Alps are Serre Chevalier and Alpe d'Huez where your 6-day lift pass will cover a day’s skiing trip to each of these ski resorts. Bus transfers between the resorts are easy, however, helicopter transfers to Alpe d’Huez are a ‘must’ for any winter holidaymaker, and are available at very reasonable rates if you want to add an exciting perk to your skiing holiday.

Les Deux Alpes is known as an ‘upside-down’ resort as most of the harder slopes are further down and the beginner skiing slopes are higher up. Have no fear!! There are plenty of nursery slopes for first-time skiers in the resort and it is very easy to take a gondola or chair lift to where the beginner slopes are and to take them down again to get back to your ski accommodation.
Les Deux Alpes is perfect for intermediate skiers as there many blue and testing red runs higher up the mountain, that are nice and wide, perfect to improve your skills and technique.
There are many expert skier opportunities in Les 2 Alpes. The harder black runs are on the last pistes approaching the village. There is also a fantastic board park and phenomenal off-piste.
Snowboarding holidays are perfect in this resort whether you are staying in a chalet or part of a larger snowboarding group staying in a hotel. The pistes are wide and not too steep great for cruising around. We do have a lot of hotels and budget apartments on offer as well as chalet deals.
When skiing in Les Deux Alpes you have access to one of the biggest and best-maintained board parks in Europe with many small, medium and large kickers to practice on or show off. The half-pipe is kept in immaculate condition. Watch out for the regular competitions. There is also a fast boardercross, ideal to race against your friends.
Les Deux Alpes is home to the legendary 'La Grave' that attracts advanced skiers, and snowboarders from far and vide, although a local guide is recommended for these unmarked trails. If conditions are perfect be prepared for an unforgettable experience during your time skiing in Les Deux Alpes.
Les Deux Alpes is one of the best resorts for apres ski that the French Alps have to offer. The main on-mountain apres-ski bar is Pano Bar and you will find a huge sun terrace, open-air DJ's, dancing on tables and crowds stretching from the terrace out onto the piste. On a sunny day, the atmosphere is second to none! It is located just off from the mid-station on the Jandri Express Lift so after a few drinks you either have the choice of a ski home or you can take the lift should you feel as though you have had a few too many.
Once back in the village there is an abundance of bars to choose from. The Yeti Bar and the Polar Bear Bar are always good places to head but no doubt on your way home you will spot loads of other bars that are equally as busy. You can either choose to stay out in the bars all afternoon (and plenty of people do) or if you are heading back to your hotel or chalet for afternoon tea then you can still head out a bit later without having missed any of the action.
Once the apres-ski has come to an end and the bars are starting to close there is a decent choice of clubs and late-night spots. No doubt at some point in the week you will end up in the legendary L'Avalanche nightclub where you can party until the early hours!
