Risoul is a purpose-built high altitude village at 1850m, which has much ski in ski out accommodation. This resort has a great snow record and boasts 300 days of sunshine a year perfect for families. Risoul is linked to Vars and forms part of the Domaine de la Foret Blanche. With 185km of piste on offer Risoul really is a great winter ski holiday destination.
Risoul has some great scenery to enjoy while skiing; often there are empty slopes and no queues for lifts. The resort is great for beginner and intermediate skiers alike with plenty of easy runs around the resort center. One great feature of holidays to Risoul is that it has one of the largest snowparks in France. Risoul has some amazing skiing set amongst some spectacular scenery. It is part of the Domaine de la Foret Blanche with 185km of slopes and is linked to Vars.
In the resort, there are special learner tows to nursery slopes that are nice and wide and as the resort is known for its sunshine it is a great place to learn. As the resort is quite compact you are never to far form the ski schools. Once the basics have been mastered the clos du Vallon chairlift will take you to some easy greens.
One of the best features of ski holidays in Risoul is that there is a great variety of blue and red runs both above and below the tree line. The longest piste in the resort is a long blue into Vars the Sainte-Marie is a staggering 8km long.
For experts, there are 10 black slopes with 8 on the Vars side and with fresh snow, there are some great bowls to enjoy.
Risoul has one of the oldest, best-maintained and largest snowpark in the Alps and was used in the 2006 Winter Olympics to train on.
As most of the resort is by the slopes it remains busy most of the day with skiers and snowboarders alike always popping into the town. As a result, the town is lively most of the day and this continues into the night.
The resort has been boosted by a large snowboard and freestyle skier presence that has made the town livelier. Popular bars include, Le Yeti that plays live music during peak time, and La Cherine and La Lincorne are also busy. There are two nightclubs Le Cham Rock and Le Morgan’s Club.
