Organising Your Group Ski Holiday

The biggest task that a party leader faces when sitting down and starting to think about organising a ski group is deciding where to go and trying to figure out how much everything is going to cost. It's hard to persuade your friends and family to sign up for a group ski trip without being able to give them this information but you will find that also hard to get an accurate price without knowing what your group size is and which sort it is that you want to go too. The reason for this is because different group sizes will get different amounts of group discount and different resorts tend to have different price tags attached to them. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation. Without your group size or a resort you can't get an accurate price and without an accurate price you can't get your your group to commit. That's where we come in. Just give us a call or drop us a quick email and we will have a look at prices for you for spread a potential group sizes in various resorts so that you can go back to the party and find out who would be willing to commit at the various prices levels.

Hopefully the task of organising your group's skiing holiday is no longer looking so terrifying. The hardest part is getting the group together and getting everyone to commit. The rest is easy in comparison.

What You Need To Think About As Group Leader

The main decisions that the group leader is going to have to make will be catered or self catered - hotel, chalet or apartment - and - which resort? The catering basis and the type of accommodation is simply down to the preference of the group but the resort that you choose to go too could possibly be a bit more complex.

Group Accommodation

Accommodation Type

The type of accommodation that you are after is also going to be a big factor in deciding where you end of going on your group ski trip. For example, if you are after a chalet then you are going to need to mainly concentrate on the French resorts. Ski chalet holidays is very much a French concept and you will find ski chalets in nearly every French ski resort that you look at. However, outside of France there is only a small number of resorts on which chalets are easy to find. Namely, St Anton in Austria, Zermatt and Verbier in Switzerland, and the Sella Ronda in Italy. You will find the odd chalet here or there in other areas but not that many. As a result, if it is a chalet that your ski group are after then you are much more likely to find what you are after if you start your search in France.

You also tend not to find many self catered apartments in the Swiss, Austrian, and Italian Alps. However, as with ski chalets you will find an abundance of ski apartments in the French ski resorts as well as finding them in the Andorran resorts of the Pyrenees.

Chalets for groups ski holidays

Having a catered chalet for sole use is brilliant for group ski holidays. It really gives you that home from home feel and gives you a great lace to catch up and socialise with your friends and loved ones without the distraction of external members to our party. Catered chalets come in all shapes and sizes so you will always be able to find the right chalet for your group ski trip.

Chalet hotels for group skiing

If you are a smaller group who don't want such an intermit atmosphere or if you are are very large ski group then you might want to consider a chalet hotel which normally sleep between 30-60 people. They offer great value for money due to the economies of scale that you can benefit from and you still get the full chalet service.

Hotels for group skiing

Should you did that you want to avoid dinning with others at our table as you would in a chalet or chalet hotel (if not for sole use) then you might want to go for a hotel for you group skiing holiday. Half board in a hotel gives you a bit more flexibility over meal times and gives you a bit more of a choice for tables.

Self catered group ski holidays

If you are a large ski group of more than 10people who want to self cater then you are probably going to need to look at splitting between more than one property. Large chalets normally get picked up by operator who then cater them and charge more as a result but it is still possible to find the odd largesse self catered units. A good example would be the Chalet Montagnets in Courchevel or the Residence Les Cimes Blanche in La Rosiere.

Shared chalets for your group skiing break

If you don't want a chalet for sole use or if you like the idea of sharing a chalet so that you can meet other like minded people that a chalet with shared allocation is going to be right up your street. Simply book into a chalet that is larger than you party size and the chalet operator will sell the rest of the beds to another party or maybe even another couple of parties.
